We defer to the Nelson-Atkins' photography policy.
The Nelson-Atkins allows some forms of photography and videography and restricts others. Flash photography is not permitted inside the galleries.
Personal photography/videography: Although personal cameras and photography/videography are permitted inside the museum, personal photoshoots, including portrait photography, are not. Equipment such as tripods or monopods are not permitted in the galleries. Selfie sticks must be used responsibly. Video interviews and theatrical scenes for personal use are not permitted.
Professional: Portrait, bridal, or any other form of professional photography or videography is not permitted inside the museum. If you are taking outdoor photography or videography, you must first complete our photography sign-in and consent form. Please note: If your photo shoot interferes with other museum activity, you may be asked to relocate.
Commercial: If a photo or video is intended for commercial use, please contact events@nelson-atkins.org prior to the shoot to obtain a rate sheet and permission.
Editorial: If you are an editorial media outlet, please contact the museum’s Media Relations office via 1ART@nelson-atkins.org to obtain permission.
