Single Origin – medium roast with complex floral notes.
This microlot coffee is a creamy and floral natural process from a remote farm in Burundi.
About This Coffee
Set in the remote hills of Burundi lies the Muyinga Province. Coffee farmers in this remote region are a multi-day journey from the nearest wet mill. Undeterred, they have mastered natural processing on raised beds.
They developed a 72-hour anaerobic process, enclosing coffee cherries in raised beds. This controlled fermentation adds sweet, thick jamminess and complex layered flavors.
"Hafi" means "close" in Kirundi and reflects the farmers’ hope for a nearby washing station someday.
Hafi coffee is a testament to dedication and mastery. Classic terroir notes from this region include tropical fruits and delicate florals with a velvety mouthfeel.
Burundi’s nutrient-rich volcanic soil and high rainfall (about 1,200mm annually) create ideal growing conditions. Distinct flavors come from its unique terroir:
- Soil quality
- Climate, rainfall & temperature
- Altitude
- Surrounding natural environment
- Unique agricultural practices
We hope you experience the dynamic terroir and masterfully produced coffee from this special region of Burundi.
